HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUY!

For Miss Baby Horsley

This is for little Miss Baby Horsley, who is not here yet, but we are all excited for her to be here in the next couple of weeks! So, Baby Lady, I just wanted to share with you before you are here that you are about to enter into a wonderful family who will love and adore you, especially since you and your mom will be the only girls in your own family! What fun! What is also really awesome is that you have four older brothers and a very loyal and loving dad.
So, with that said, just a few little things I wanted to share with you as your "Auntie Nine"...

Your oldest brother, Caleb, has already had practice kissing his girl cousin, Lillie. I am sure he will give you kisses too! Your "Auntie M" has two girls, Lillie and Abby, and I am sure they will teach you girly things like painting your toenails!
Baby pink is the best! I know you will wear it well!
May you give time for your parents to sleep :)

Tasha, your mom, is a wonderful person who will love you with all of her heart.
And look at that, she is holding your brother, Austin. Yep, you're next!
Your mom is SOOOO excited to have a baby girl! Just check out her blog!

And, of course, it almost goes without saying, that you will have the great joy of getting to scrapbook in your lifetime, I am sure. You have aunts who LOVE to scrapbook. Plus, all the women in this family love to take pictures of their kids, including you! We can't wait to add you!

You will get to be loved by your siblings, which are all brothers.
How cool is that?!

Maya and Savannah proudly wore their princess dresses at Disneyland. This is definitely tradition because all of my nieces wear their princess dresses like its always the norm. And of course, it must be pink or Cinderella blue!

Grandma Suzy, your dad's mom, raised four girls and knows a thing or two about girls. You also have a fun aunt named "Auntie Ria." Oh, almost forgot, purple is fun to wear too. We love it!

When you go to Target, Miss Baby, you are going to see so many fun, pink, sparkly girly shoes. I can't wait for you to experience sparkles. It just makes me happy thinking about it!

Okay, now you can see who I am. I am your Auntie Nine!
This is when your cousin Abby was a baby. Isn't she cute?

I love being a sister and you will have so much fun being a sister to your brothers too. My brothers and sisters are Peter, Melissa, Paul, Katrina, Maria and Ben.
Your brothers, Caleb, Taylor, Isaac and Austin are cool guys!

We must not forget the importance of girly things such as Hello Kitty, Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears! I love them all! Doesn't Savannah look cute with her Hello Kitty?

You have two other aunts, Kerri and Katrina. How fun, two K's! Kerri and Katrina are fun-loving mom's who have five boys just between the two of them. And the cool thing is that you also have Zach, Joe, Jacob, Ethan, Alexander, Ashton, Adin, Jared, and Noah who are all boy cousins to you! That's not even including your brothers. Wow!

Your mom and Aunt Kerri are great friends.
May you have the joy later in life of sharing fun times with a sister-in-law too.

Miss Baby Horsley, you will also have the privilege of friendship.
My friends are also like sisters.
May you always have good memories throughout your life and know that you are loved as a daughter, sister, cousin, and niece in this great family of ours.
We love you much. Auntie Nine :)

Seattle Snow and a Fresh Perspective

Mark, Zach, and Joe shoveling snow so we have some room to park. Thanks guys!

Giving some perspective...

I took a couple photos of Seattle snow when I was up north in December 2008. There was so much snow and it was just fun to look at it without having to drive in it everyday like everyone else was earlier in the week. I'm not sure how it happened but I managed to miss each "blizzard" on the way up and the way back. Whew, good thing! I really did not want to put on chains at the Mount Ashland summit at 5:30 in the morning. Thank goodness for snow plows that you can follow on a 6% grade when you have a trusty Toyota without 4-wheel drive :) Yay for front-wheel drive!

Mount Shasta and Backyard Moon

Moon from my backyard on January 10, 2009.

Photo of Mount Shasta taken while on College View Drive in Redding on January 8, 2009.

I love taking photos of mountains and the moon when the weather is beautiful in California. There is a reason why people like living in this beautiful state. The sunset weather grips you regardless of whether it is Winter or Summer. I thought I would share a couple of pictures of what I have seen this month so far. More to come later!

The Gift of Cousins

Since 2008 has come to end, I am able to look back and say that I am especially thankful for the gift of cousins. Not only did my boys, Zach and Joe, experience many happy times this last year with all of their cousins, I, too, was able to reunite with my only cousins, Avery and Boyd. Although I wasn't as fortunate to be raised near my cousins, I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know them both better as an adult. We are making our own memories and having a good time doing it! In October 2008, my dear grandpa passed away but it gave new family life as a result of his passing. Amazing. It brought family unity and the desire to live better, love more, enjoy the less recognized moments, and find time to laugh and enjoy one another within our family walls. So with that said, I share with you this..."Give thanks for unknown blessings are already on their way." Native American Proverb
